Apple Silicon: Run Windows Apps on Mac. No Emulation

Windows those days is quite a boring platform. Well, Microsoft is trying to innovate by adding new additional user dialogs there and there (and there), but at the end of the day, it’s still the good old Windows NT. Oh, so much fun!

Name at least a few recent Windows innovations? I can’t name a single serious one. It’s mostly about adding visuals, menus, and animations on top of the outdated system.

However, that’s not the point of the article. I think that Windows those days is the system that most people pick either because it’s something they got used to or because of the large base of available software and games. That’s about it.

When it comes to running Windows applications through emulation on your Mac there are some good options available there: UTM, Parallels, QEMU, and a few more. There are even more options if you are using an Intel Mac: Virtual Box and VMWare.

We have talked about this in another article and it’s a good source of information if you are planning to take this route on your M1 Mac.
