Minsk, Belarus: Alive museum of Soviet Union (and much more)

People travel for various reasons. Some people enjoy luxury vacations in the best possible resorts. Some people seek adventures: camping somewhere in the woods, riding a bike cross country. And also there are people like me who is obsessed with cities stuck in the past. One of such cities is Minsk.

Belarus? Where is that?

Minsk is the capital of Belarus. A country that is famous for its strict government rule and the president of which is called “the last dictator in Europe”. While it might sound harsh, that’s not the reason for skipping the city. Unless you are doing something really anti-government, there is nothing to worry about. Belarus is conveniently located nearby Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia and Ukraine.

Why Minsk?

Being stuck in the past doesn’t mean that everything is stuck in the past. For the most part, only government symbols and political system stuck in the past. Other than that, it’s mostly a free market system and freedom of movement. It’s not like USSR where every opinion different from the official was banned. Belarus is basically like advanced version…
